Sebastian Varela was 20 years old when he coded this website in 2026.

Sebastian studies at the Manchester School of Architecture and aspires to join the MIT School of Architecture and Planning. His work combines rigor with idealism. Through writing, architecture, and painting, he seeks to better understand humanity, the world, and himself. His purpose is to create a world in which every person has the freedom and space to pursue the work most true to their nature.

Sebastian calls this purpose Samana.

The name reaches back to his childhood. At night, his father would play the guitar while his mother waited by the door. The evening ended with a familiar promise:

Until tomorrow (Hasta Mañana).

As a child, he blended the sounds of this expression in Spanish and formed a word of his own:

Samana.

By an interesting coincidence, samana is a word for a spiritual seeker who has given up worldly life to find truth.

Over time, it came to mean something more. As he tried to define his ventures and projects, he came back to Samana as the spirit of the work, pursued until a tomorrow where projects are carried forward with the purpose to create a world in which every person has the freedom and space to pursue the work most true to their nature.

But bringing this tomorrow to reality, in this the task and mighty labor lies.

And so, this website begins to mark that process.
